Brandywine Valley Art Museums
Located in Chadds Ford, PA, on the banks of the Brandywine River, The Brandywine River Museum is often called the "Wyeth Museum" for its extensive collection of works by the internationally acclaimed Wyeth family - grandfather N.C. Wyeth, father Andrew Wyeth and son Jamie Wyeth. This rustic museum is housed in a converted 19th-century grist mill with exposed beams, brick and stone.
While the Wyeths are the main draw to the museum, its collections includes works by Brandywine school founder Howard Pyle and students including Maxfield Parrish, as well as paintings by American illustrators Charles Dana Gibson, Rockwell Kent and others. Other works include 19th-century landscapes, still lifes and interior scenes by artists including Jasper Cropsey, George Cope and Jefferson David Chalfant.
The best time to come is between April and November when you can tour N.C. Wyeth House and Studio and the Kuerner farm, a major source of inspiration to Andrew Wyeth and the subject of many of his paintings.

The Museum's permanent collections include 19th Century American art. The Tempest and Hamlet, by Pyle student Violet Oakley, is on view for the very first time. In the Peggy H.
